Commissioner's Report
NEW SANTA ROSA LIBRARY SYSTEM Our own library system will be open for business in early August. Linda Hendrix, Director of the Santa Rosa County Library system presented new library cards to the Santa Rosa County Commission at the regular meeting, July 27th. After a two week change over period, this marks a new beginning for our state of the art system. We should all be very proud and pleased that we have such a fantastic new system open now for our use. Feel free to use your NEW LIBRARY! ORIOLE BEACH EXPANDED BOAT RAMP PARKING The County Commission authorized purchase of additional property for parking at the Oriole Beach Boat Ramp this week. My appointee to the Marine Advisory Committee, Jeff Marker, played a valuable role in this transaction. This purchase doubles our parking capacity at this site.
WIND INSURANCE CRISIS UPDATE Your commissioner introduced a resolution that was passed this week urging the Governor and the Florida Legislature to meet in special session to address the loss of windstorm insurance. South Santa Rosa County is severely impacted by the almost complete absence of insurance carriers on and near US 98. It is my hope that our legislature and governor will urge Congress to join in solving this pending catastrophe throughout Florida.
